Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

Rememberr is a personal recommendation tracking app developed and operated under the brand name "Rememberr." This Privacy Policy explains how Rememberr handles your data in compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

2. What Data Rememberr Stores

When you use Rememberr, the app stores the following types of data locally on your device only:

• Memory entries (names, categories, notes, links, tags)
• People names associated with recommendations
• Audio recordings (voice notes you choose to attach)
• Reminder dates and times
• App settings and preferences (theme, recent tags)
• Draft entries not yet saved

This data is stored using your browser's built-in storage technologies (IndexedDB and localStorage) and never leaves your device.

3. What Data We Collect

None. Rememberr does not:

• Collect or transmit personal data to any server
• Use cookies for tracking purposes
• Use analytics or tracking scripts
• Create user accounts or require registration
• Share data with third parties
• Access your contacts, location, or other device data

4. Microphone Access

Rememberr may request access to your device's microphone for two optional features:

• Audio Notes: Recording voice clips attached to memories. Audio is stored locally on your device only.
• Speech Recognition: Converting speech to text using your browser's built-in Web Speech API. Speech data is processed by your browser/operating system, not by Rememberr. Please refer to your browser's privacy policy (e.g., Google Chrome, Safari) for details on how speech data is handled by the browser.

Microphone access is entirely optional and only activated when you explicitly tap the record or dictation button. You can revoke microphone permission at any time through your browser or device settings.

5. Service Worker and Caching

Rememberr uses a Service Worker to enable offline functionality. This caches app files (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, icons) on your device so the app loads without an internet connection. No personal data is cached by the Service Worker.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

Since all data is stored locally on your device:

• Your data exists only as long as you keep it
• You can delete individual memories at any time within the app
• You can delete all data using the "Clear All Data" option in Settings
• Clearing your browser data or uninstalling the app will remove all Rememberr data

7. Your Rights Under UK GDPR

Because Rememberr does not collect or process personal data on any server, most data subject rights are exercised directly through the app. You have the right to:

• Access: All your data is visible within the app at all times
• Rectification: Edit any memory entry directly in the app
• Erasure: Delete individual memories or all data via Settings
• Portability: Export your data as JSON via Settings → Export

8. Children's Privacy

Rememberr is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. Since no data is transmitted to us, we have no way to determine the age of our users.

9. Third-Party Services

Rememberr is hosted on Netlify. When you access the app, Netlify may log standard web server information (IP address, browser type, access times) as part of their hosting service. This is governed by Netlify's Privacy Policy. Rememberr itself does not control or have access to this data.

10. Future Changes

If we introduce features that involve data collection (such as analytics, cloud sync, or user accounts), we will update this Privacy Policy before those features are activated and clearly notify users within the app. Any future data processing will be based on your explicit consent.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of Rememberr after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
